The commitment
My design process is complicated and more challenging than for someone without aphantasia, and I often get asked how I can be an artist if I can't see things in my mind. The truth is that aphantasia is a spectrum.
For me, I can visualize about 45% of something left to right, and it happens in a quick flash. Then it's gone.
But I remember a general shape, feeling it gave me, and I have an idea I want to covey.
1. A design usually starts with text because it's something silly I said to my husband or other people, so I write that down.
2. I draw a general shape or layout of where the text should be. The final design doesn't always stay the same, but sometimes it does.
3. Then I go to Canva and start my layout and play with font, text, and color.
4. I then export to .png and move to Sketechbook Pro to combine layers, reshape, color, blend, and whatever else I want to do.
5. Then I export again, post it to my shop and it waits for you to find it.
Thanks for learning more about my process!
